about
born to egyptian parents, raised in london, living in new york, yosra is somewhat of a nomad, clocking up frequent flyer miles and making homes around the world. forever blessed with love and beautiful hearts, her family extends far and wide.

her subjects are people because she says, “they are all that really matter.” she thinks with her heart and sees through her lens, the beauty in their stories and the emotion they contain.

her route to art was not a conventional one nor arguably a wise one but one based purely on love and instinct. after receiving an honours degree in physiology from UCL in london, with a strong pull towards a medical career, she made a choice to trust that her heart would guide her on her path to uniting her two passions; people and art, though she had no idea how to get there. at 21 with more recklessness than sense and a camera she didn’t know how to use, she agreed to take some casual photos at a friend’s wedding, a favour that she wouldn’t realise until years later, opened up a new world to understanding how she sees the world and a risk that taught her that most risks are worth taking.

having never really been formally trained, she worked tirelessly to teach herself and maintain art studios in london but itching for more, packed up and left for new york in 2006; “the best decision” she says, she has ever made. she has been there ever since.

she now spends her time taking more photos than she has the time to edit, printmaking and painting in her studio, traveling and living new experiences around the world and loving to love.

she counts her blessings everyday.
